We’ve got to have smoke... Cos the smokes a signal and we can't be rescued if we don't have smoke.” (pg 173) Piggy spoke this quote when Ralph was telling the twins harshly about having a fire. Ralph had no intention of becoming the leader, he was chosen by the boys. The quote proved that Ralph was the leader. “ He blundered out of the triangle toward the drop to the white sand. Jack! Jack turned and looked back at Ralph. For a moment he paused and then cried out, highpitched, enraged. No!” (pg 127) This quote was from when Jack left the group( socalled Ralph’s lot). When Jack was walking away, Ralph ran to Jack and tried to bring him back despite him trying to throw him out of power. Because he was a true leader, he tried to bring Jack back because he was essential to the group. Throughout the book,
Ralph was always a leader to the group and he tried to be good.

We'll have to have Hands Up like at school.”(pg 33) Ralph was going over the rules that were set in place are were giving everyone a certain job. He didn't want everyone to talk all at same time, he wanted people to talk one by one so everyone can be heard. “ Supposing we go, looking like we used to, washed up and hair brushed, after all, we're not savages really and being rescued isnt a game.”(pg
