An Examination of Revenge and Forgiveness
The overview of the project was quite simple, the project description was well created so we all started the project knowing what exactly we were gonna expect as far as planning went. We first had done some warn-up activities to more familiarize us with Shakespeare and his work. After the warm-up activities we proceeded on reading the Tempest. We read the script as a class and frequently stopped to review and completely understand the text that we had just read. This was because Shakespeare's use of Old English mixed with words that he had created and we are unfamiliar of along with his incredibly complicated and prestigious symbolism was a great load of understanding that was tremendously difficult for us to understand without rereading the text. Throughout the reading of the script, we had taken notes on major events that had happened in the Shakespearean piece of writing. After the completion of the script, we read over a couple of articles that specifically focused on the topic "Revenge vs Forgiveness." After reading each article we had a discussion about it. For the last portion of this project we had gathered in groups and investigated through all of the reading and the Tempest. We were investigating to find the most evidence that can be used in a discussion about the topic "Revenge vs Forgiveness." We were then required as a group to compose a claim that we will fight for and support with evidence in a socratic seminar. When all groups had created a claim that can be backed up with evidence from our readings then we proceeded on the socratic seminar. This was a discussion the specifically was about whether revenge is a better option or forgiveness.
